I'm Agred Tafaj, and ION-X is the business I spent years working towards, long before I knew it would exist.
My legal career began in Tirana. Legal Studio Tafaj was my family's practice, so I grew up around the law long before I ever studied it. For three years at Legal Studio Tafaj, I drafted contracts, negotiated agreements and represented clients in court. Those years taught me something no textbook could: a single clause can decide whether a business grows or gets stuck in a dispute it never saw coming.
In 2022, I left everything familiar behind to study International Commercial Law at the University of Cambridge. Arriving at Darwin College, in a new country and working in a language that wasn't my first, was one of the most challenging and rewarding things I've ever done.
London came next. As Legal Counsel and Legal Operations Lead at Guavapay, a payments and fintech group, I worked on contracts across multiple jurisdictions, including the UK, Dubai, Poland and Spain, covering SaaS agreements, MSAs, licensing and sponsorship deals, NDAs and more. I led the rollout of SpotDraft, our contract management platform, and saw first-hand how the right systems can transform the way a legal team works.
During this time I kept thinking about the businesses that don't have a legal team at all. So in December 2025, I founded ION-X.
Starting something of my own was not a small decision, but it was the right one. ION-X is built on a simple belief: no business should have to sign a contract it doesn't fully understand. I combine careful contract review with the processes and technology that help businesses manage contracts well as they grow. I believe the future of legal work is sound human judgement supported by smart tools, which is why I've trained in AI for legal work with Harvey Academy and help clients adopt AI responsibly.
I work in English, Spanish and Albanian, and I bring the perspective of someone who has practised law in more than one country.

My status, and why it works for you
In the UK, I work as an independent legal consultant with an LL.M. from Cambridge. I'm not a solicitor of England and Wales, and ION-X is not a law firm or regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
That means you get a specialist, commercially minded and cost-effective alternative for contract review and legal operations, the work that isn't reserved to solicitors. Where a matter needs a regulated solicitor, I'll tell you upfront and can point you to one, and I'm glad to work alongside your existing lawyers.
